STATEMENT OF FAITH
WE BELIEVE WE ARE:
TO BE UNIFIED IN THE ESSENTIALS OF OUR FAITH – “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of us all, who is over all and through all and in all.” Ephesians 4:4-6
TO SHOW GRACE IN THE NON-ESSENTIALS OF OUR FAITH – “Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.….. So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God” Romans 14:1-4, 12
TO SHOW LOVE ABOVE ALL ELSE IN OUR FAITH – “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing…. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:1-3, 13
WE BELIEVE IN:
GOD
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are equal, and are one God.
(Genesis 1:1, 26, 27, 3:22 Psalm 90:2, Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14 & 1 Peter 1:2)
JESUS CHRIST THE SON OF GOD
Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He is equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Being fully God and fully man, Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect, one and only sacrifice for the sins of all mankind, dying on a cross. He arose from the dead three days after His crucifixion, to demonstrate His power and divinity over sin and death. We hold that His death is sufficient to provide salvation for all who receive Him as Savior, and that our justification is by faith, and faith alone. After He arose, He then ascended to heaven’s glory in the sight of many witnesses, and will return again back to this earth, as He has declared, to reign as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords!
(Matthew 1:22,23, Isaiah 9:6, John 1:1-5, 1:12, 14:1-30, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 4:14-15, 1 Corinthians 15:3,4, Acts 1:9-11, 1 Timothy 6:14,15, & Titus 2:13)
GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ as Lord of their lives. He lives in every Christian believer from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian believer with power for living, understanding God’s truth (the Word of God), and guidance in doing what is right and pleasing before God. As Christian believers, we seek to live under the Holy Spirit’s control and guidance.
(John 16:7-13, 14:16,17, Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16, 2 Corinthians 3:17, Galatians 5:25, Ephesians 1:13, 5:18)
THE BIBLE GOD’S HOLY WORD
The Bible is God’s Holy Word. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance and leadership of God the Holy Spirit. We hold the Bible to be the complete and final authority for faith and practice, as the inspired, inerrant, infallible, and authoritative Word of God.
(Psalms 12:6, 119:105, 160, Proverbs 30:5, 2 Timothy 1:13, 3:16, Hebrews 4:12-13, 2 Peter 1:20, 21)
HUMAN BEINGS MADE IN GOD’S IMAGE
All people are made in the spiritual image of God, as the supreme objects of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by a nature of disobedience toward God and His Word. This is called sin nature. This sin nature separates all people from God and necessitates the need for a Savior, Jesus Christ.
(Genesis 1:27, Psalm 8:3-6, Isaiah 53:6, 59:1-2, John 1:1-14, 3:16, Romans 3:23, 5:8)
SALVATION
Salvation is God’s free gift to all mankind, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by putting our faith in Jesus Christ as the one and only sacrifice for our sins, can we escape the penalty of sin. “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Romans 10:9-10
(John 1:2, 3:16-17, 14:6, Romans 6:23, 10:9-13, Ephesians 2:87-9, Titus 3:5)
SANCTIFICATION
We believe that after receiving salvation, we need the fullness of God’s Spirit in our hearts. When we make a complete commitment to Him, He cleanses our spirit, and gives us the power to live the victorious Christian life! We believe we come to God in salvation through “surrendering” our lives to Him, and are sanctified by “yielding” our new born-again lives to Him on a daily basis!
(Matthew 3:11, 22:37-40, Acts 1:4-8, Romans 6, 7, 8, Galatians 5:16-26, 1 John 4:17-18)
ETERNITY
Made in the image of God, people are created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally united with God through the forgiveness of sin, by salvation that comes through the shed blood of Jesus Christ upon the cross of Calvary. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally united with God in union with Him, is eternal life in heaven! Heaven and hell are both places of eternal reality, as declared in God’s Word.
(John 3:16, 14:17, Romans 6:23, 8:17-18, 1 Corinthians 2:7-9, Revelation 20:15)
THE CHURCH THE BODY OF CHRIST
The Church is the active body of Christ in the world today. It is called together by God the Holy Spirit, through the Word of God, for the purpose of fulfilling God’s plan for the world until His Son Jesus Christ returns at His second coming. Our purpose, as followers of Jesus Christ, is to carry out the Great Commission of Christ, which is to: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” … “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'” Matthew 22:37-40, 28:18-20
(1 Corinthians 12:12-31, Ephesians 5:25-28)
